Shelters

At Hampton School, children participated in a project to design and build personal shelters, merging art and architectural design with practical construction. They explored architectural concepts using materials like card and Correx sheets, learning how to transform 2D designs into 3D structures. This project was important as it connected art with other subjects like maths and science, to reinforce its relevance to the students and enhance their appreciation and skills in these areas. Facilitated by experienced architects through the RIBA Schools Outreach Programme, the project inspired many students to pursue art at GCSE and A-level, highlighting its educational value.
